From 1960 to 1970, I was anything but your average (for the era) comic book reader and collector. I had adventures in hunting down comics that would've brightened any 10 to 15 year old kid!

In 1985, I began an undertaking regarding what I identified as "Comics in the Classroom" meant to do on the elementary and secondary school system what began in the late 1960s in colleges across America. Only, my efforts used the comic book as a tool for also both behavior modifying and reward.

In 1993, I founded the West Utica Comic Book Club. Located in Utica, New York, I realized that kids simply were not behaving as kids did back when I was 10 to 15 years of age. Certainly, they didn't interact together as well as they could where comic books were concerned. So a weekend garage sale brought forth a group of nine younger comic book readers interested in the hobby of comics and reading. We visited and solicited schools and libraries and in 1996, the West Utica Comic Book Club grew into being known as ORCA, the acronym for Organized Readers of Comics Association.

ORCA conducted itself under not for profit standards and became widely known and supported by the comic book entertainment industry. That initial effort of 10 individuals grew into a group that consisted in excess of just over 1800 active roster members. ORCA hosted several comic book convention events and held monthly meetings at several places in central New York. This was my 'history' before the year 2005.
